About the Speaker: Deidre Price, author and speaker, is a mama of three and lit Ph.D. Her most recent work appears in Boxcar Poetry Review, The Penwood Review, Bamboo Magazine, Praxis, and Dear Angela: Remembering My So-Called Life. She holds degrees in creative writing, philosophy, British and American literature, twentieth century American poetry, and new media studies, and is currently serving as Professor of English at Northwest Florida State College and Editor of the Blackwater Review.
Deidre’s awards for writing include the Grand Prize for Tyndale Publishers’ Imaginary Jesus Contest in 2010. Over the years, she has spoken at various national English and information literacy conferences and in the community on the subject of technology and online communication, specifically related to social media. Her academic work focuses on the intersections of “good enough” motherhood with self-worth and the struggle to maintain identity in domestic spaces. Her dissertation includes in this mix social media and blog culture in the age of autobiography. Her current work melds her loves of poetry, people, and purpose.

Sculptor, poet, social justice activist and philosopher, Robert Larson’s art is in collections throughout the U.S. and abroad. His work is influenced by Native American tradition, mathematics, mysticism, and science. It was the beginning of the end of World War II and the start of the nuclear age. Today we watch anxiously as another nation, Iran, attempts to join the “atomic bomb club.” This anniversary is a good time to do some reflection on the theme of power.
