Rev. Ruth’s Reflections – September 22nd, 2023

Rev. Ruth's Reflections Hello Emerald Coasters!

Bill, Angus, and I went to get flu shots at a local clinic a few days ago.

For the first time, the nurse wanted to take my adult son Angus back by himself, and I had to explain that he requires a family member with him because he can’t see and he can’t talk. So he needs help to communicate, and he needs support in an unfamiliar environment. It was fine, and Angus was a champ, as usual.

Most of us have vulnerabilities, even disabilities, that are not obvious, and many would prefer to keep such things private. It isn’t comfortable to expose our weak points and personal challenges.

Sometimes we need an advocate, someone who will assist us and smooth the way. Other times we are called upon to advocate for others, and help them along the path.

May we find the help we need, and may we be the help for others when needed.

In wisdom and grace,

Rev. Ruth
