Rev. Ruth's Reflections

Ever had to drive in the rain without windshield wipers? I did yesterday when mine gave out on the 4-lane between Baker and Andalusia. I slowed down to 40 mph and crept along while vehicles sped past me, and there was a certain annoying irony to my observation that my rear window was perfectly clear! The rain let up after a while and I made it home safely.

It’s hard to go forward when you can’t see what’s ahead. I briefly considered turning the car around and driving backwards because the rear wiper worked!

Sometimes my life feels this way: I must move forward but I can’t see clearly ahead. I can’t sit still and I can’t go back. Of course I have a lot of help and a lot of love and I seem to make it inch by inch every day.

Maybe I need to learn to slow down more and let go of unreasonable expectations.

Hope your wipers are working this week!

In wisdom & grace,

Rev. Ruth
