Returning to Virtual Services for August

Dear Members and Friends of UUFEC,

Following the Monday Board meeting, we wanted to let you know of the decision to return to virtual services for the month of August.

We realize this is a disappointment to us all! We have been hoping that mass vaccination would allow our congregation to open the church and resume meeting indoors in-person, but the Covid infection rate in Okaloosa County is very high and we are now aware of church members who have been vaccinated and are mildly sick with the virus.

We have been especially concerned for those who are immune-compromised and for children under 12 who cannot receive the vaccine, but now we are increasingly concerned for everyone who HAS received the vaccine.

We will continue to work with the Board members to study the various strategies and options other UU churches are trying as well as guidance from the UUA to develop a plan for re-opening when it is safer to do so.

In the meantime, we will work with our most capable Worship Team to create meaningful online worship experiences with a few new twists to promote spiritual deepening and community building!

Let’s hang in there without hanging up or hanging anybody!

Faithfully,
Jane Park, President
Ruth Vann Lillian, Minister
