The UUFEC will be taking the evening meal to Opportunity Place on Thursday, November 17th, 2011.  We provide an entrée and salad/veggies for 30 adults. It works best if each contributor can provide food for 15 people, but adjustments can be made  if you prefer to prepare for a smaller number. Please contact Jane Montgomery I if you would like to help with this service project. Remember to join us this Thursday, 11/3/2011 for the first Thursday potluck at UUFEC at 6 p.m.. Bring a dish to share and enjoy good food and great fellowship. Left over Halloween candy is welcome too.

If you are one of the kind folks who signed up to help with the Cold Night Shelter program, November is our month for training. We must have TWO trained volunteers at each of the three shifts on the Wednesday that we will be the Host Church. Even if you think you can only be a substitute, PLEASE sign up for the training! The dates, times and locatations are:

Saturday, November 12th, 2011. Volunteers are needed to work on various home-owner details: Traditional cleaning, trimming and painting. Help keep the UUFEC building and grounds appealing. Please contact Fred with your intentions at boyer@valp.net or 582-4417.

Session 1: You! This is the first in a three part series that introduces those new and not so new to the fellowship to each other and all they need to know to get the most out of UUFEC. Come share the religious journey that has brought you to our community. Tell us your needs and wants, hopes and dreams, and hear those of others.

Confidential assistance is given for verified needs such as temporary housing for a family of six whom the homeless shelter could not accommodate and job transition assistance for working families. The need for emergency assistance is sporadic. Thank you to those who have given to the Emergency Assistance Fund. Contributions are always needed. We do not wish to turn away verified need. To contribute, write checks to UUFEC with Emergency Assistance noted on the memo line.

Trick-or-Treat for UNICEF Bring your spare change Sunday, Oct. 30th! The RE kids and youth will be trick-or-treating for UNICEF during the break. We’re encouraging everyone – kids, youth, and the young at heart – to wear costumes. Please see Jennifer Jordan if you have any questions (jenniferljordan@cox.net).

Saturday, October 29th, 2011, 7-10 p.m., right here at UUFEC. Come dressed as your favorite ghoul or not. Usual finger food (although some will be scary) and drinks available. Usual $5 suggested donation. Hope to see you there.
